Paris is the famous million-strong capital city of France. The Seine river divides the the city in a northern part (rive droite – right riverside) and a southern part (rive gauche – left riverside).
History
It developed from the city Lutetia (pronounced /lutetja/) founded by the Parisii tribe which is also the origin of the name Paris.
